Question
hello my name is jesse and i have a question concerning training. i've come to understand that the neck is an important part of a boxer's defense and i was wondering if there was other ways to strengthen the neck? other then using the cap with chains that connect to a weight.

Answer
Hi Jesse,

There are a couple of other options. Lay face down on the ground, put a pillow or mat under your head. Raise yourself up with only your head and your toes touching the ground. Roll your head back and forth. You can lightly place your hands on the ground next to your head for balance if needed.
You can lie down on a bench with your head hanging off and get a friend to get a towel and place it over your forehead. With your head facing up he pulls down on each end of the towel placing light downward pressure against your forehead as you do about 10 reps up and down. Then roll over and the the same thing for the other side.
This is a good excercise and is probably as good as any machine when done properly.

good luck,

Jackson
