Question
I was wondering where to start boxing in my area im from Cerritos, CA and somewhere nearby and not too expensive. I am 17 and want to know if boxing is the sport for me or not. You can check my youtube video under jevinjim.
Peter, Go to usaboxing.org and click on members. Find a location near you and call the boxing committee on the list. You can get info for your area.
You will never know how good you can be until you actually get in the ring and spar. So you will have to workout for a while with a trainer before you get to that stage. It will be much different than backyard boxing with your buddies but if you start now you will have your entire 20's to pile up a good record if you choose to do so.

I have been in the sport of boxing since 1984. I started as a boxer and advanced quickly. I was lucky enough to have some of the best sparring in the country with 3 top ten pros in my very gym. I am fortunate enough to live near one of the better boxing programs in the country. We have cultivated our facility into the largest Amateur Boxing Gym in the country. In the mid 90's I became a trainer for Golden Gloves. I train amateur and pro fighters. I have worked in many corners at USA and Golden Glove tournaments. I have worked corners in pro bouts on HBO and ESPN cards. My friend, boss and coach is the former President of Golden Gloves and I trained under his tutelage.
