Boxing/scoring in boxing

Question
Have or do referees ever score a round in boxing?  I seem to remember that I have heard that when the scores were given.
My husband disagrees.

Answer
They actually used to in some states and in the earlier years.  You do not hear of that since around the early 1980s, but rest assured they did use to do this.  There was a referee and 2 judges and many different scoring methods according to the State.  There was the 5 pt. system, the round system, the 10 pt must system and ten points per round such as 6-4 type system, and the referee played a major part in the scoring.  It may still exist somewhere today but I am not aware of it.

Thanks,

Joe
