Hi my name is blake orman and I live in Australia, I am 15 years of age. I have always wanted to be a boxer since growing up watching the rocky movies. I dont have much expierince apart from shadow boxing. Would it be difficult because I live in Australia....
Blake, I don't think you will have any problems. My understand is that Australia has a strong boxing history. See if your area has a golden gloves gym and start there. Check with the recreation department of your town. 15 is a good age to start so your on the right track. You can fight amateur until your 34 but if you start now and stay with it you might be able to turn pro in your early 20's or pursue a national amateur title. Nobody that starts has any experience so your all on the same page in the beginning. You'll only be matched with other guys with similar experience so the bouts are always made to be as fair as possible. Get started and have fun.

I have been in the sport of boxing since 1984. I started as a boxer and advanced quickly. I was lucky enough to have some of the best sparring in the country with 3 top ten pros in my very gym. I am fortunate enough to live near one of the better boxing programs in the country. We have cultivated our facility into the largest Amateur Boxing Gym in the country. In the mid 90's I became a trainer for Golden Gloves. I train amateur and pro fighters. I have worked in many corners at USA and Golden Glove tournaments. I have worked corners in pro bouts on HBO and ESPN cards. My friend, boss and coach is the former President of Golden Gloves and I trained under his tutelage.
