Boxing/Training and find bouts

Question
Hi my name is Concha Ross and I'm located in Cass Lake, MN.  I'm part of the Cass Lake Boxing club, but have to say that it isn't as organized as it should be.  The building that we use for training is also used for other activities, so we don't always have a place to practice.  I'm doing a lot of practice on my own.  I'm very interested in competing but feel I don't have the support needed.  I'm sure if I can book my own fights or anything like that.  I was hoping that you could give me some advice on training on my own and then possibly ideas on how to find bouts on my own also.

Sincerely

Concha Ross

Answer
Hi Concha - As long as you are registered with USA Boxing, you'll be able to compete in sanctioned shows. Unfortunately, I am not a coach nor do I think training on your own is a good idea.  Please email me at mel@amateurboxing.com and remind me what city and state you live in and I'll send you a contact for finding shows and, possibly, another gym.
