Answer
Considering most amateur boxers start around age 10 or younger, starting at 18 just means there will be boxers more experienced than you.  However, dedication and focus does pay off if you truly want to succeed.  You'll need to start out as an amateur boxer and have at least 3 to 5 years of experience before turning pro, if that is your end desire.  However, only about 1% of the pro boxers actually make a "career" out of boxing.  Most fight in local club shows for very little money.

If you are interested in starting in the amateurs, email me at mel@amateurboxing.com and tell me the city and state you live in.  I'll send you a contact.
