Boxing/diabetes and boxing?

Question
Hi there, recently i have become interested in starting to try boxing. (Although i cant do anything yet because i have torn my cruciate *if thats how its spelt =P* ligament in my left knee, should be having operation late july.) I dont really know much about it, but my dad did a little bit of it with the army and it sounded good, my question is, if i have type 1 diabetes, will they still let me do boxing in the uk? i've had a little look around and found some evidence of a forum somewhere to suggest that i cant, do you know anything about this? i am 15, round about 70 kg give or take (if you needed to know that =P) and live in suffolk england.

I do not see how diabetes would effect a 9 or 12 minute fight unless you had trouble controlling your sugar. In the US I have never heard of anyone not allowed to fight simply because they have diabetes unless it is not being controlled. I have worked corners in pro bouts on HBO and ESPN cards. My friend, boss and coach is the former President of Golden Gloves and I trained under his tutelage.
