i am wondering if there is a proper way to hang a speed bag i have the mounting equipment and all but i am not sure if i hung it right for best results.

Answer
Hi Rick

Congratulations on your speed bag unit! There are several "proper" ways to hang a speed bag unit on the wall - and that depends on two things: (1) The model of speed bag wall unit, and (2) the wall you hang it on. Both come in many varieties.

For a standard bedroom or garage wall with wooden studs, you want to be sure and have either the vertical speed bag unit mounts, or wood strip runners, attached firmly to the studs. As you know, wall units and wall stud widths may vary and not match up, so you may have to make a wooden frame to hang it on. Check out this link for a few ideas

Be sure you get the board level. That will be a key feature.

It also depends on the amount of height adjustment your wall unit allows (IF it has adjustment slots etc.)  For once it is up, your next concern is getting the bag set to the correct height, and that is determined by having the belly of the bag at or close to your mouth.

That way, if you change to larger or smaller bags, simply adjust the board up or down to get the belly in the correct place.

Here is my latest wall unit at home. notice the wooden frame I made to hold it up.

Good luck and hope this helps.
