Question
hi, i was wondering what it would take (how long, wieght cutting ex.)before i would want to get some amatuer fights. i have been boxing for a couple of months and i train 5 days a week at a good gym and im 5'4 130lbs.

Answer
Nick,

Sounds like your off to a good start. I would shoot for 119. 130 is a little big for 5'4 unless you have a lot of muscle and very little fat. At the very least go for 125.
Sparring is the best measure of where you are and if your ready to fight. I would get at least 8 to 10 sparring sessions before the first fight. The most important part of offense when you begin is to keep your hands up protecting your face, this will be your main defense. On offense, stick mainly with the 1-2 and lots of jabs. Perfect these at first. You can win your first 15 fights easy with these punches alone along with good defense.

good luck,

Jackson
