Boxing/What to wear for amateurs?

Question
I was wondering is there a protocal for what you can wear in the amateurs more specifically golden gloves? I always see the blue and red jerseys and shorts and was wondering if that's required? I know the headgear and gloves must be U.S. boxing certified, and I'm just wondering about actual clothes? Thanks.

Unless it is the Regional Golden Gloves or the National Golden Gloves you can wear about anything you want as long as your attire is not offensive in any way. You don't even half to wear boxing shoes, tennis shoes are fine. It just has to be shorts and a tank top.
If you are in one of the 2 tournaments I mentioned, you will be representing your team or club and you all will wear the same uniform.

In the mid 90's I became a trainer for Golden Gloves. I train amateur and pro fighters. I have worked in many corners at USA and Golden Glove tournaments. I have worked corners in pro bouts on HBO and ESPN cards. My friend, boss and coach is the former President of Golden Gloves and I trained under his tutelage.

I am a certified Golden Gloves/USA Boxing Coach. I am also a licensed to work pro bouts in several states.
