Question
Hi, I was just wondering, do you think it will be possible for me to do professional boxing while I am still studying to become a doctor? Or do you think that I will have to give up one of them.

It can be done, although it is not easy because of the time issue. If you are working it becomes even more difficult. People do it though. There is a heavyweight contender in the top ten that got his finance degree while fighting. It doesn't leave much playtime. It really depends on how serious you take the boxing. The PHD is your career, the boxing is your dream. I say that because pro boxing a crap shoot. There are no guarantees and it's risky business. A pHD is something no one can ever take away from you. Gert a good trainer and someone you trust to manage you and get you fights. You could be the first fighting doctor.

I have been in the sport of boxing since 1984. I started as a boxer and advanced quickly. I was lucky enough to have some of the best sparring in the country with 3 top ten pros in my very gym. I am fortunate enough to live near one of the better boxing programs in the country. We have cultivated our facility into the largest Amateur Boxing Gym in the country. In the mid 90's I became a trainer for Golden Gloves. I train amateur and pro fighters. I have worked in many corners at USA and Golden Glove tournaments. I have worked corners in pro bouts on HBO and ESPN cards. My friend, boss and coach is the former President of Golden Gloves and I trained under his tutelage.
