Question
I am really interested in boxing but i don't have any gyms near by. i have been self training for about 6 months now and have dropped about 30 lbs. I usually do cardio 2 days (running 2.5 miles, swimming, jump rope, etc.) and then I do strength training (situps, pullups, plyometrics, weights) for 1 day. I train 6 days a weeks. I am 5'6 160lbs. Is my training ok? how should i be training and what is my ideal weight for as a fighter?

Answer
Alex,

It looks like your doing well. I wouldn't change anything right now.

Your ideal weight in boxing is when you have your bodyfat down below 10%. At 5'6 you would have to have a lot of muscle to justify fighting at that weight. The norm for 5'6 fighters is somewhere between 119 and 135. But, if you have a lot of muscle then you could get away with fighting as high as 147, maybe even 156.

good luck,
Jackson
