Question
Hi. I have 2 friends that are intersted in start fighting amature. One of them is 34 years old. Whats the age limit for amatuer bouts? The other friend want to have some of sort a fun bout. For fighters age 50+. is there such thing aranged? He is 54 yrs old. Thank you.

Answer
The age limit for amateur open competition is 34.  USA Boxing does have a Masters Division for those over 35, however there isn't much in the way of competition.  Ringside Equipment does provide Masters the yearly opportunity to compete in their annual tournament, but that's about it.  If you are still interested, you can email me at mel@amateurboxing.com, tell me the city and state your friends are in, and I can also forward you the Masters Division rules.
