Boxing/Heavy Bag

Question
For Christmas, my uncle bought me a heavy bag I had asked for, but my dad believes the bag is too heavy for me.  I'm 16, about 6 foot, weigh around 155 pounds, and I am very fit. The bag I received is 80 pounds, is that too heavy?

Answer
HI Kevin,

What a great uncle to buy you a heavy bag!  Personally, I don not think an 80lb bag is too heavy for your weight and height.  If it was a jumbo 120 - 150 pounder I might be concerned, but only because you might not be able to get enough swing from the much weight. I think you should do fine with a bag that size.  Perhaps your dad can hold it for you and help you work with it. then you can hold it for him, and make it a family workout.

Good luck with your new bag.
