Question
hey, i am new to boxing and always wanted to try it. i have saved up my money for a heavy bag and the strap for your ceiling. my question is that will my ceiling hold about a 60 to 80 pound heavy bag? and if it does, how do i set it up, and where would you suggest i put the mount. thank you

Answer
Hi Kiran,

Hanging a heavybag is really specific to the room and construction materials used in the room. Wall and Ceiling construction and materials are different in many parts of the USA and in different countries. I can't specifically tell you if your bag and YOUR ceiling. If you ceiling has heavy 2x6 joists maybe it will hold the bag pretty well. If it is only 2x4 construction, I would not recommend it. I would suggest you get a local construction expert to examine your specific spot for hanging the bag and see what he says.

There are several types of hanging systems to use, and I have linked to them below.

I'm sorry I can't be more specific, but without seeing the room and area for the bag too hang, I can't say if your ceiling will hold that bag. Please get the area checked and I hope you can hang your bag where you want to.

Sincerely,
