hello i wanted to ask how would i be able to become a cutman would i have to go get certified by usa boxing and go to a class or how can i go about that ?? and also i have a fighter thats 18 years old and i wanted to know if he would still be able to compete in amature boxing competitions or tournaments ???

thank u ralph

Answer
Since amateur boxing doesn't use cutmen, I don't know the proper procedures for learning.  Most cutmen I know work pro shows and learned on the job, or in a gym.  In order to coach a corner in amateur boxing, you would need to become a member of USA Boxing (yearly fee, January to December) and attend a 6-8 hour certification clinic.  The oldest an athlete can compete is age 34.  Your boxer would also need to register with USA Boxing, pay a yearly fee, have a copy of his birth certificate and two head-shot pictures.  If you are interested, please email me at mel@amateurboxing.com, tell me the city and state you live in, and I'll send you a contact.
