Question
hello I am starting my amateur boxing career at 18 and want to go pro, but I am going to go to college at the same time. My question is would it be better to box at my local gym or box at my college boxing club. The school i plan on going to is Miami university Ohio. They have a boxing club. Well i just need to build a good amateur record before going pro. what do u think would be the best way. Will I be recognized if i excel in college boxing?

Answer
Hi Tom - if your ultimate goal is to participate as a pro boxer, you're better off training at your local gym and competing in USA Boxing sanctioned amateur boxing shows.  The National Collegiate Boxing Assn. program at Miami is strictly for the novice boxer and you won't be able to get the experience you need.
