Boxing/heavy bags

Question
I would like to work out with a heavy bag at home, but do not have anyone to hold the bag for me like at the gym.  What would be better to prevent swinging, a 100 lb bag with a bottom tie down ring or a heavier bag, e.g. 150 lbs?

Answer
Keith,

I wouldn't go over 100 lbs unless you are 220+.  You actually want the bag to swing a little bit. This helps you with your timing.
To keep the bag from swinging too much just make the distance from the top of the bag to whatever it's connected to, is short. This will keep the top of the bag more stationary even though the bottom portion is swinging. Also, if you go from 3 angled chains into the top of the bag it will limit movement. It is important you use a swivel as well.

You want something very similar to this:
