Question
hi Joe i am 20 and i am thinking seriously about starting boxing but have a few questions, i am 5 foot 6 and about 190pds and i have a very stocky build, so i feel i could get down to 160pds would this be about right or what sort of weight would i need to be getting down too, so i am in a competitive weight, also what should i do starting out train on my fitness before going to a boxing club or join and work on the fitness there, any other tips that you can give for starting out

Answer
the second part of your question is too lengthy to answer but as far as the weight and height goes, it would depend on your bodyfat.  If you are at about 5 % bodyfat then that is about it weight wise.  You should fight at the lowest body weight that you can achieve..
