Boxing/Boxing professionally w/o a trainer

Question
Is it mandatory to fight in the amateurs before going pro? Is it mandatory to have a trainer in order to fight professionally? Do you know of any good literature on the business of boxing? Thanks Mr. Rose.

It is not mandatory to have a trainer but you do have to have someone work your corner and he has to be licensed as a trainer in the state your fighting.
It is not mandatory to fight amateur in order to fight pro, although some states will be more strict than others about letting you get a license to fight pro without any amateur experience so there are no guarantees you will get a pro card.

In the mid 90's I became a trainer for Golden Gloves. I train amateur and pro fighters. I have worked in many corners at USA and Golden Glove tournaments. I have worked corners in pro bouts on HBO and ESPN cards. My friend, boss and coach is the former President of Golden Gloves and I trained under his tutelage.
