Question
I have a son who is 4 yrs old and is very into boxing. He loves to box every chance he gets. I was wondering what steps I need to take to become a certified/licensed boxing trainer so can train my son properly in hope of one day becoming Enzo to his Joe Calzaghe or Jack to his Shane Mosley.

Answer
Pheng,

You have to contact your local Boxing Committee and find out where classes are being held. You will take the class and then a written exam which you must pass to get your certification. You can contact the people at usaboxing.com and get details.
As you may or may not already know, that starting age for entering a boxing match is 8 but I guess you can show him some fundamentals and get him used to the sport.

good luck

I have been in the sport of boxing since 1984. I started as a boxer and advanced quickly. I was lucky enough to have some of the best sparring in the country with 3 top ten pros in my very gym. I am fortunate enough to live near one of the better boxing programs in the country. We have cultivated our facility into the largest Amateur Boxing Gym in the country. In the mid 90's I became a trainer for Golden Gloves. I train amateur and pro fighters. I have worked in many corners at USA and Golden Glove tournaments.
