Question
I'm an in-fighter, and I try using the peek-a-boo style guard when getting inside. I was wondering when using that guard or block punches to my face, is it better for me to keep my gloves against my face or a little bit detached from my face?

Answer
Daniel,

Keep your gloves against your face. Look at your gloves as the same way head gear protects your head. It is wrapped around your head tight to serve as a big cushion to absorb the shock of a blow.
Your gloves are doing the same thing but they must be touching your face for that particular style to be most effective. You have to get used to that feeling of getting hit in the gloves and eventually it will be no big deal. It's a jolt, but it doesn't hurt you nor does it score a point, it's just a little annoying. That's why you should be incorporating head movement along with this style so you can move forward without being knocked of balance.

good luck
