Question
QUESTION: Lian,
I am still a little confused about the amateur boxing weight classes. I'm 16 and  I've recently joined a boxing team and my trainer wants me to get to about 156 pounds. Right now I'm roughly 167 pounds. So my question for you is, at 167 pounds, what weight class would i be in. Also, what weight class would i be in if i went down to 156 pounds? The clarification on this is greatly appreciated.

- Brian

ANSWER: Hi Brian,
Here are the relevant weight limits:

152 lb. division
165 lb. division
178 lb. division

Right now, at 167 lbs., you are in the 178 lb. division (because you weigh more than the upper weight limit for the 165 lb. division).

At 156 lbs., you would be in the 165 lb. division.

I hope this helps, Brian.
Thanks again for asking!

Regards,
Lian
