Question
Hello Joe,
I am currently getting into boxing and I attend a club once a week. My first issue is my weight; I am 16, about 5 foot 9 and weigh 74kg. In my opinion this is quite alot considering I have barely any fat on my body although I am quite muscular. Do you have any advice in terms of fitness and dietry programmes for me to drop a weight class or two?

Secondly I have not fought anyone (properly) yet as I am not yet at the right level however my technique during bagwork is progressing well. When me and my friend (who is about 84kg) were sparring quite aggresively my whole array of hooks and uppercuts went to pot and we were both throwing big  sluggish punches. I thought I would win easily however this wasn't the case, do you have any advice in this matter? Do you think its about composure?

Thank yoo for any advive you're willing to offer,
Louie Q

Answer
The first part of your question I can answer the second one I cannot without seeing you.  You may not be able to lose more weight if you are that muscular.  If your bodyfat is 5 percent or under you are where you need to be and your bone structure is too large for you too lose more weight.

Joe
