Question
I'm having trouble finding amatuer boxing events to compete in around the Chicago area.  The Golden Gloves go up to 34, but can older competitors fight younger ones anyway?  If not, do they actually check birth records?

Answer
Hi Laurie - I'm guessing that you are over the age of 35?  If so, there is a Masters Division in USA Boxing, but there is no depth of athletes and about the only venue with competition is the yearly Ringside tournament.  Every athlete who competes must be registered with USA Boxing and proof of age and citizenship via birth certificate or passport is required.  If you have more questions, feel free to email me at mel@amateurboxing.com.
