also I am overweight and fat people have a lot of punching power and less speed in my case is is the opposite way i have lots of speed a very sharp jab and all my punches are snappy. the problem is that i have hardly any power in those punches so i am afraid my punches would have no effect can you please tell me how to build power.

I need to lose 3 stones in 6-7 months i currently weigh 13 stone i am a male i need to drop down to welterweight to become an amateur boxer i have been boxing for 2 years and have the skills of an amateur boxer but not the stamina. i would be very thankful for your help.

Answer
Muz,

Stick with your running but you might change that distance to 3 miles 3 times a week. Get some weight training in twice a week. Stick to a high rep low weight routine, no sets less than 16 reps.

Get 20 minute of jump rope 3 days a week.

Work on your mechanics. Anybody can throw a punch with power as long as your technique is correct.

Never miss breakfast, take it easy on the bread, no soft drinks and drink plenty of water throughout the day.

good luck
