Question

Pernell
I want to have defense just like the boxer Pernell Whitaker but i don't know what kind of drills to do, I wonder if Pernell Whitaker sees the punches coming or does muscle memory kick in and make him dodge the punches. So what can i do to get defense natural to me?

Answer
Excellent defense is developed through a great foundation in stance a anticipating punches by judging distances and the direction a fighter is moving.  An example would be if a fighter is moving to the left and is at a long range, you can probably anticipate a jab is coming.  Of course the opposite is true if your opponent is southpaw.  To stand with your hands down puts you at risk.  Maize balls, and slipping double end bags helps in defense.
