Boxing/Golden Gloves fastest knock out.

Question
My father, Bruce Hebenstreit, knocked out an opponent in seven seconds of the first round of a Golden Gloves Fight. The fight was most likely in 1938 or '39 in South Bend Indiana or Chicago. He fought in other places as well. Several years ago, Harry John, a classmate from Notre Dame said in a letter to my Dad that the "record still stands today". I am sure about the knock out,it was a Golden gloves fight and 7 seconds of the first round (several sources). Does the record still stand? Is it possible you have more information on my father? I want to share this story with his Grand and great grand kids.

If you can find this out I will be amazed and very, very grateful.
Andrew Hebenstreit

Answer
Unfortunately, it's almost impossible to get any information prior to 1987 - like looking for a needle in a haystack.  My best suggestion is to contact the newspapers in South Bend or Chicago and see if they have anything in their archives.  Good luck.
