Question
I'm 31 years old i've been training myself to be a boxer since '07.I'm very fast and i have a 73.5 inch reach i believe i can do it but people are telling me to do mma or that i'm to old to box. I'm a great athlete i use to play basketball(point guard) do you think i can have success

Answer
Hi Gary - The only way you could box amateur is to register with USA Boxing as a Master's Division athlete (for ages 35 and up).  There isn't much competition except for the annual Ringside tournament usually held in August.  If you are interested, please email me at mel@amateurboxing.com and let me know the city and state you live in.  I'm not a MMA fan so can't advise you there.
