Boxing/preparing for military boxing tournament

Question
I'm getting ready for a boxing tourney in about 3 months. Although I've been training in boxing for about 3 years since I've been in the military and have had some sparring this will be only my second time competing in an actual bout. I was wondering if you could give me a small game plan or go by as far as how often should I train and intense from the start of my preparations and as the fight gets closer if I should slow down and how far out should I start slowing down. And last I was wondering how many days should I rest completely during the training schedule and the few days prior to the bout. I really appreciate any and all input on this. Thank you.

Answer
Jose,

You should be in the gym working on your boxing skills 3 to 4 days a week and running 4 to 5 days a week. You should run early in the morning on the days you workout at the gym.
I would spar you 3 days a week leading up to the event. Let's assume the event is on a saturday and the gym was open mon-thurs. I would stop sparring you on wednesday and have a light workout on thursday. You have friday completely off to rest and hydrate.

You should increase your intensity as you get closer but the last two days should be very lite so you will be fully recovered and free of soreness.

good luck
