Question
Hi,
I'm a 23 years old international student in the US on F-1 Visa. I'm very interested in Boxing and would like to train and compete as an Amateur, and if I prove to be good enough then turn Pro.
Is there any way I could pursue my boxing dream legally here, as I'm neither a Citizen nor a permanent resident of the US. If yes, then I would like to know the procedure for the same. I will really appreciate a prompt reply as I'm in a dilemma regarding my future, and don't have much time to make a choice. Thanks in advance.

Answer
You would be able to register with USA Boxing but your competition would be limited to local shows and non-advancing tournaments.  You would not be able to compete in any tournaments leading to international events.  You can email me at mel@amateurboxing.com for a contact in your area.  I'll need to know the city and state you live in.
