Question
Being that i am 34 right now and turn 35 in june of this year.I was wondering what my options are for boxing i have no ameture boxing matches as of yet and was planning on entering vts golden gloves in january but i recentley found that i am to old for that. What are my options at this point is there a way to fight ammy boxing matches or is going pro right now my only option.the latter seems like a bad decision some what to me as of right now.

Answer
Bob,

There is a masters division for 35 and up boxers. There are not a lot of venues right now but I would imagine it will grow over the next few years.

Yea, you could go pro. With no amateur experience it would be a very long road. Depending on what your goals are also. You fight far less in the pros than you do in the amateurs. This makes building a record a long venture. You would likely become a journeyman fighter. Sometimes journeyman get big fights with contenders as they expect you to be another notch in the win column or a tuneup fight. So if you were to make a real good showing at one of these fights, you could increase your stock as a touch opponent.
If I was in your shoes, I would fight masters and after 25 fights I would make my decision to either go pro or hang it up. But that's me.

good luck
