Question
im 19 and i wanna know if dat is a old age to start amateur boxin, and if its not how would i go about that?? do i need to sign up with a local gym first?

Answer
Depends on what you want to do in amateur boxing.....  8-)  If you want to try for the Olympic team, it's probably a bit late since most Olympians have been boxing for 9 or more years and have lots of national and international experience.  However, 19 is not too late to start in the sport - there are local shows and tournaments you can participate in and you'll always have a chance to compete in a tournament leading to a national championship.  You will need to register with USA Boxing and also have a registered and certified coach work your corner so - yes - you should find a gym in your area where you can learn the proper technique.  Please email me at mel@amateurboxing.com and tell me the city and state you live in and I'll send you a contact.
