Question
I've been boxing for quite sometime now, I've had 12 amateur fights 11 were recorded before 2002 and my last fight was last fall. I go to the gym regularly besides training myself at home. My age is 36 but I still fight better than most 19 yr. olds but I can't get the right trainer who will make moves for me to become a pro. My goal is to shock the world much as George Foreman did at the age of 42 against Michael Moorer. I live in the state of Michigan and my question is how do I go about becoming a pro immediately? I don't have time to wait and this is what I want to do.

Answer
Anwar,

You have to get a license in any state you fight in from the state athletic commission. Each state has different procedures. Here is the link to Michigan:   I suggest emailing them on their requirements and they will guide you thru.

I have been in the sport of boxing since 1984. I started as a boxer and advanced quickly. I was lucky enough to have some of the best sparring in the country with 3 top ten pros in my very gym. I am fortunate enough to live near one of the better boxing programs in the country. We have cultivated our facility into the largest Amateur Boxing Gym in the country. In the mid 90's I became a trainer for Golden Gloves. I train amateur and pro fighters. I have worked in many corners at USA and Golden Glove tournaments. I have worked corners in pro bouts on HBO and ESPN cards. My friend, boss and coach is the former President of Golden Gloves and I trained under his tutelage.
