Question
QUESTION: Hi. i'm an amateur boxing fan and i'd like to clarify a doubt. Are protein powders banned for olympic amateur boxing? The NCAA lists protein powder as a banned substance for student athletes. Is this allowed for olympic boxing and will taking protein supplements damage an amateur boxers career?

ANSWER: You can find the anti-doping list at http://www.aiba.org/documents/site1/Anti-Doping/2010/WADA_Prohibited_List_2010_E.

QUESTION: the link doesnt work but i went to the wada website. their q and a on nutrient and diet supplement page isnt working cause the're revamping. could you please tell me of your own knowledge, is using a protein powder supplement like ultimate nutrition not allowed in boxing? if you dont know the answer, fine. just dont give me another link ;-)

Answer
If you go to www.aiba.org and scroll down on the right hand side to the Documents section, you will see a link to the list of banned substances.  I didn't see any heading for protein powders so I'm guessing it's probably okay.  However, just to be on the safe side, you should find another, more natural, source of protein - a dietitian or nutritionist could probably help.
