Question
I am 23 years of age and i have just started boxing and i would like to know the correct training shoes to use.I would also like to follow a training program because the gym i go to does not focus on beginners and i do not like training without particular targets.thank you
Nairobi,Kenya

Answer
Kevin,

I would suggest ringside.com for some good training shoes. They have mid-cut and high-cut boxing shoes. If you need good ankle support you should try the high-cut. I would recommend the everlast or the adidas.

As a beginner the main things you should focus on is the technique of your punches. Defensively you should work on moving your head in the mirror. Get in a rhythm and change your cadence, don't be predictable.
Keep your hands up and your chin down.

You should get around 6 rounds on the bag, 6 on the mirror, 6 on footwork, 4 on jump rope then finish with excercises - pushups, sit ups and leg throws.
Once your able to defend yourself reasonably you should be able to get some SOFT sparring.

good luck
