Boxing/NYS Certification to train boxing

Question
I live in Rochester NY and have been around boxing most of my life. I am looking to teach boxing at my local gym. I have had some of the gym members ask to start a class. I was wondering if you knew what i need, certification or a license to teach at the gym. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think anything is required unless the rules are different in NY State, although I would suggest getting a certification from USA Boxing. It will give you more respect in the eyes of your students.
You have to attend a clinic and pass a written exam. To find one in your area go to this site and send an email asking about clinics in your area.

In the mid 90's I became a trainer for Golden Gloves. I train amateur and pro fighters. I have worked in many corners at USA and Golden Glove tournaments. I have worked corners in pro bouts on HBO and ESPN cards. My friend, boss and coach is the former President of Golden Gloves and I trained under his tutelage.
