Boxing/Warrior - who won?

Question
In the recent movie "Warrior" (starring Nick Nolte) the final scene has a boxing match between the two brothers where clearly one of the brothers is the victor because the other taps out. But there is no decision announced by the referee. Without the referee decision (where he would raise the arm of the winner) is there technically no winner in this movie match?

Answer
David,

I have not seen the movie. Although, in a real match, the referee does not have to raise the hand of the victor for it to be an official win. The scorecards are tabulated at the scores table which signifies an official winner. The announcer informs the crowd of the winner. It is only a formality to raise the winner's hand and is done for tradition and for the crowd, but it is not necessary.

thanks
