Question
I've seen bag mitts for sale in sports shops, presumably to wear while using a punching bag?  Why? Why wouldn't you use ordinary boxing gloves?

Answer
Hi Bruce,

Thanks for the question.

Competition boxing gloves are designed to provide protection for the hands of boxers, so they are more heavily padded than most bag gloves.
The bag gloves are also designed for hand protection, but since punching bags are either padded themselves, or hollow (speed bags), the amount of protection provided by bag gloves can be less.
All that being said, sometimes boxers do train with full-size gloves, at least on the heavy bag.

I hope that helps, Bruce.
Thanks again for writing!

Regards,

Lian
