Question
I am 19 years old and am eager to compete in amatuer tournaments. Are there any tournaments available for my age group?

Answer
Hi Tim,

Thanks for the question.

Your age makes you eligible to compete in virtually any senior amateur competition, with the exception of the Under 19 Championships, for obvious reasons.
Otherwise, the determining factor would be your level of experience. There are separate categories for experienced (open) boxers, and inexperienced (novice) ones.
To compete at all, you have to be registered with USA Boxing in your local area.
If you need guidance on how to do that, let me know.

I hope this helps, Tim.

Thanks again for writing!

Regards,
Lian

I can answer questions regarding rules for both pro and amateur boxing; upcoming bouts; fight analysis/predictions; various other questions. I am an experienced amateur boxing official with USA Boxing (14 years) and I have completed a yearlong professional officials` clinic with the California State Athletic Commission.
