Question
Is there any rule prohibiting hitting an opponent from behind(in boxing)?

Answer
Hi Cameron,
Thanks for the question.
The legal punching area is the front of the boxer, from the waistline (navel) to the top of the forehead, and approximately from the ears forward.
Punching the back of the head (rabbit punching) and the back (kidney punches) are dangerous, and yes, illegal.

I hope this helps, Cameron!
Thanks again for writing.
Regards,
Lian
