Question
Hi. Can you please tell me can I compit on internationAL OR STATE TURNAMENT IF i HAVE temporaly imigration status. Is it rule to be USA resident or citizen for competition? Thanks.

Answer
Hi Denis,

Thanks for the question.

As per the rules of USA Boxing, foreign athletes may only compete at the "local" level, in non-advancing tournaments.

This means that a foreign athlete would not be eligible to compete in a state or international tournament, as you listed in your question, nor would he or she be able to compete in a local tournament that advances to a state, national or international tournament.

Only U.S. citizens can compete in such tournaments in the United States. The entire USA Boxing rulebook is online at the following address: http://www.usaboxing.org/20042005Rulebook1.pdf

I know this may not be the answer you wanted to hear, but I hope it helps to clarify things.

Thanks again for writing, Denis!

Regards,

Lian
