Question
Hi Alan,
I was searching the internet for any information about boxing I could find because I am very interested in taking my skills to the next level. I have been in PAL boxing for several years and have seen my skills improve. I have a study regement of workouts but my diet is not up to par. Im not sure what the best way of going about a diet is and figured if anyone you would be the best person to help me with this. Another problem is that in a month I will be attending college.  I will be a freshman at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY and I am very excited. The problem is I can not find any places in the area that have boxing or training facilities.  The gym at Marist is great except they do not have any punching bags or speed bags.  If you could please help me to find any places in the area of Marist and any links to help with my diet situation I would be very grateful.  thank you so much   -Ray

Answer
Hi Ray,

I have to admit I'm not much of an expert on diet. I will give you some links to some good websites on diet, But I suggest you get with someone locally that knows YOU and your body type, build etc. and help you create a personal nutrition plan.

You might also query some webforums used by other similiar athletes.

check out the nutrition forum.  You can't go wrong use anything by Ross Enamait. The guy is a genius in training and fitness. He also lives up on the east coast and your might query him to find out some gym information.

YOu might also ask on some boxing forums about boxing gyms in the Poughkeepsie area. I am drawing a blank on finding anything listed on the web. You might try some of the gyms here and see if any of them know any locations.

NEW YORK BOXING GYMS

also, ask around on these forums

http://boards.boxinginsider.com/

http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/

http://www.saddoboxing.com/boxing_forum/index.php

and also here:

You will have to register with each to post, but they are a world of information and you can find many people in any geographic area to help you out.

Apparently there are some good boxing matches in Poughkeepsie, at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center. I've seen several listing, like this one:

Sorry I couldn't help you more. Again, Ross Enamait's Forum has a lot of people that can help you find information in that area of NY.

Good luck and thanks for your question.
