Question
I'm new to boxing, and I'm 5'8" and 195 lbs, I'm trying to be an amateur welterweight, but I need to lose weight what do you suggest I do, because something wants me to be lighter. Should I lose the weight or keep it.

Answer
If your bodyfat is more than about 10% then for boxing you should lose weight but so much depends on your bone structure and muscularity.  At your height it would be very tough fighting at your weight which is now a cruiser or heavyweight because the majority of those fighters are over 6 foot tall.  If you need a diet plan I have one available on my website at www.boxingdoneright.com, but naturally there are many diet plans available from many fine experts.

Hope this helps,

Joe
