Question
is 23 too old to start boxing- with the aim of being great?
i have never boxed as of yet, but have had a passion for it since i was a youngster and have had the equipment such as heavy bag, speedball etc and used them on a regular basis. i know i can become good as i have great self belief
Hello Tim, You are not too old at all. I think it is better to start when you are an adult because you are less likely to develop bad habits. Sounds like you already have the tools to get it done. You already have been working out all these years so you have a head start. Plus you appear to have a great attitude about succeeding so all the ingredients are there. The next step is to get into a gym where you can start sparring and developing your skills. Go to USAboxing.org and send them an email asking where the nearest gym is to you.

I have been in the sport of boxing since 1984. I started as a boxer and advanced quickly. I was lucky enough to have some of the best sparring in the country with 3 top ten pros in my very gym. I am fortunate enough to live near one of the better boxing programs in the country. We have cultivated our facility into the largest Amateur Boxing Gym in the country. In the mid 90's I became a trainer for Golden Gloves. I train amateur and pro fighters. I have worked in many corners at USA and Golden Glove tournaments. I have worked corners in pro bouts on HBO and ESPN cards. My friend, boss and coach is the former President of Golden Gloves and I trained under his tutelage.
