Question
Dear Alan, I have ordered your book & DVD but they won't be here before Costco.com's sale is over. Can you tell me if you recommend the Everlast Heavy & Speed Bag Stand Kit (60lb. Heavy Bag), or if it's better to have a wall mounted system.

Thanks for all you do to promote this kind of work out!
Joan

Answer
HI Joan,

Thanks for ordering my training materials.  I hope they help you learn the speed bag!

The answer to your question depends on what you are trying to do. IF you want to workout with BOTH a heavybag and speed bag, or IF you are wanting to focus on the speed bag.

A two vertical pole wall mount system if bar far the best for learning the speed bag. It is much more stable and you will progress much faster when you do not have to struggle with the swaying floor unit, which adversly affects the rebounding of the bag.

IF you want a heavybag workout, I personally believe a free standing floor unit is also a bad choice, for they tend to "creep" along the floor as you punch unless you anchor it some way.  A 60lb bag is not very heavy, so it will also probably sway a lot from punching.

my last thought on this is: IF others in your family might be hitting the speed bag also, than I believe a wall unit will be easier for you all - at least for the speed bag part of your workouts.

Whichever you choose, be careful, train safe and good luck to you.  thanks for your question!

sincerely,
