Question
Hi,

I'm thinking about replacing the old speed bag in my school's gym room, but it has a chain-link swivel, and i'm not sure how to remove the old bag from the chain link and put the new one on.  Do you know how to do it with some basic tools, or do I have to get some specialized tools for that?

Answer
Hi Jeff,

You can do take the bag of the chain link with a link removal device like "retaining Ring Pliers"  found here http://www.crawfordtool.com/retaining_ring.html
but carried at many local stores that carry tools.

You can also do this with by various other methods but you have to be careful, first - not to gouge some device into your other hand if it slips off the link as you try to move it, or Second, try to do this and not damage the retaining link, such as bending it or spreading it too wide, or even breaking it.

Personally, I Have the link removal pliers. Makes it quick and easy.

Hope this helps. be careful however you do it.

thanks for your question
