Question
Dear Alan,

I just purchased a speed bag and am trying to find a way to attach it to the beams in my basement.  I rent, so I'm trying to find a way to do this without drilling, attaching anything permanent, etc.  Can you think of a way to construct a platform that could have brackets that would slip over the 2X4s across the ceiling?  Thanks.

Answer
Hi Sharilyn,

I often get questions like this from renters, and I wish I had a good answer. I would love to design a unit that somehow fits in a door way. But alas, right now there is no way I know of other than a free standing floor frame like this: http://store.titleboxing.com/title-professional-freestanding-heavybag-speedbag.h...

There are several models, such as these:

But other than that, I haven't seen a good indoor wall set up that doesn't require some drilling and hammering.

Good luck. Perhaps you can design something that would work. I would love to see the idea, for this question is asked a lot.

good luck and train safely.

sincerely,
