Question
I know it's good to hit the speed bag from all angles, but when I try to hit it consistently straight it goes to the side after about 15 - 20 punches. I feel as though I'm hitting it straight, but apparently I'm not. Maybe I'm hitting with the wrong knunkle? Anyway, thanks for any help.

Answer
Hi Victor,

Without seeing you hit, it is difficult to say why the bag may seem to be rebounding slight "off" to you, but the key is: Does that rebound really make you lose control and break down?

Actually, the bag rebounds normally in an "X" pattern when hit repetitively from front.  When hit from ALL sides it can rebound in any line. read here:

An errant rebound could happen if you vary your fist position or swing angle slightly, but as long as it doesn't cause you to complete break down and stop, your next punch should be able to set it back on course.

I would suggest your don't try too hard to keep it "straight" only all the time. Let it take it's natural variance. But if it happens a lot and is problematic, perhaps its your swivel, for some influence the rebound, or your swing motion (more than the knuckle of contact)

Good Luck and I hope this helps you improve your speed bag workouts.

sincerely
