Question
Hi my names Nestor I'm 5'8" 145lbs I've done wrestling and tae kwon do both at extremely competitive levels I figure working with my hands would be next experiment except I have no idea where to begin and where it would lead me so what I would like to know is what do I need to do to begin and the furthest I would like to take boxing RIGHT NOW would be Golden Gloves but I have no idea what steps to take to get there do you think you can help me?

Answer
Hi Nester,

sounds like you are off to a good start so boxing may come easier to you than others... go to goldenglovesofamerica.com and click franchises. Find a gym near you and start training there. They have good training and they will get you registered. You will fight in the novice your first several fights and eventually will turn open. You just walk in the gym and ask someone for a trainer. Be sure to tell them you want to register so you can compete. Get that out of the way right off the bat so they will know you are serious. You will get more attention this way. Work hard and you should do fine, you are a good size where there is a lot of action in that weight class.

best of luck,

jackson
